Take advantage of this training event being offered in the Des Moines area for the first time! Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy is a structured, experiential model of couple therapy that helps partners move from conflict, distance and distress to increased openness and trust. The effectiveness of EFT is strongly supported by 25 years of respected outcome and process research that identifies the interventions most influential in creating lasting change.

Program Objectives

 Participants will be able to:

  • Conceptualize couples distress and relationship repair based on theories of attachment and emotion.
  • Name and describe the three key change events in EFT.
  • Identify four specific interventions that help couples work through negative affect and create secure attachment.

Jeff Hickey is a licensed clinical social worker and director of The Chicago Center for EFT. Jeff is a certified EFT trainer, and provides presentations throughout the United States. Jeff also has advanced training in addiction treatment and sex therapy and maintains a couple-focused private practice in Evanston, IL.
