This workshop will provide basic information about what play therapy is and how it works to bring about healing. Specific interventions will be demonstrated and practiced. Participants will also obtain information about the role of the Association for Play Therapy (APT) and how to become a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). Clinicians interested in increasing skill and knowledge in play therapy are highly encouraged to attend. *Snacks will be provided*

 Description: Play therapy tools are special toys with which children play out themes in the various stages of the play therapy process. It is well known in the play therapy world, that play is the child’s language and toys are the words. Toys should be carefully selected and not just collected, as suggested by Dr. Garry Landreth, an expert in the field of play therapy. This 2-hour workshop will discuss basic toys for the playroom, as well as useful information in maintaining a functional playroom for play therapy.   Additionally, emphasis will be placed on the presenter’s favorite toys/items.  Examples of how these toys/items are used and metaphors that have emerged will be shared and discussed. *Snacks will be provided*

Description: This workshop will begin with a brief description of the difference between Non-Directive and Directive Play Therapy, and move right into at least five (5) Directive play therapy techniques that can be implemented immediately with children and adolescents, and even adult clients. Come prepared for an information rich and interactive session! Additionally, you will learn how to become a Registered Play Therapist through the Association for Play Therapy in California. *Snacks will be provided*

These workshops are designed for: Social workers (LCSW, LMSW, LISW, BSW, AAW), psychologists (Ph.D, Psy.D, Ed.D), school counselors, school psychologists, licensed counselors (LMHC, LCMHC, CMHC, LPC, LCPC), marriage and family therapists (LMFT, LIMFT), art therapists, play therapists, occupational therapists, graduate students, and others in the mental health-related field.  This is a presentation for professionals at all levels to participate.

SOCIAL WORKERS

 Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars (CBPS), approval number provider #1602, is approved as a provider for continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards, www.aswb.org. ASWB Approval Period from 5/14/2018 to 5/14/2019.  CBPS maintains responsibility for the program. Social workers should contact their regulatory board to determine course approval. Social workers will receive 6 continuing education clock hours in participating in this course.

Also, Chesapeake Beach Professional Seminars (CBPS) is approved by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to sponsor Category I continuing education programs. Social Work Boards in most states accept this approval status.
