NEW! Understanding and Using Financial Reports and Concepts--02/26/2020--C0308

  • Are you intimidated by accounting and financial reports?
  • Do you understand the financial reports, statements, and tax returns that are fundamental to your business?
  • More importantly, do you know how to use your financial reports, such as a budget, to make sound business decisions?
  • Do you know the story that your financial statements tell to an educated reader?
  • Can you perform a lease vs. buy analysis or rank competing investment opportunities by their financial and business value?

Accounting and finance are the language of business for a reason. Only by understanding basic accounting terms and concepts can one understand and use financial reports to manage and improve their business.

In this two part workshop you will learn the basics of accounting terms and concepts and gain the ability to understand financial reports and some of their many uses to manage your business.

In Session #1 we will explore the terms and concepts of accounting and how they are used to build financial reports most commonly used by businesses. Fundamental principles such as consistency and conservatism underlie the concepts of assets, liabilities, revenue, and expense. We will examine how these concepts become the building blocks of most financial reports and statements such as the balance sheet, income statement, cash flow, and product profitability reports, and in so doing gain an understanding of those reports and statements.

In Session# 2 we will explore how these reports and concepts can help you manage a business. We will learn how to extract the story of the business operation from the financial statements and further, how to use that story to improve those operations. We will discuss how to build and use budgets, how to use a cash flow report to manage cash needs, how to perform variance and ratio analysis, and how to make capital asset investment decisions.

Each Part is 2 hours in length and will include useful handouts. Session # 1 will be held on 2/26/20 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.  Session  #2 will be one week later on 3/4/20 from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM.  Both will be at the IRSC Pruitt Campus, 500 NW California Blvd. Bldg. “F” Room 144, Port St. Lucie 34986.          .

Registration Fee: $34.95 total for online pre-registration for both sessions $44.95 at the door. PayPal or credit card accepted with advanced registration. Only credit cards accepted at the door.
