Thank you for your interest in the SUNY “Universities as Economic Drivers: Measuring and Building Success” Conference which was held at the Hyatt Regency in Buffalo, N.Y. on September 26-27, 2011.
With promising evidence of new investments and jobs being created through higher education efforts across the country, this initial Critical Issues in Higher Education conference articulated the importance of higher education institutions as drivers in the economy, and the need for better metrics to benchmark and track improvement in the contributions they make to regional economic development. The conference highlighted the underlying trends fueling the knowledge economy, globalization and the underpinnings of economic growth, and drew lessons on how to foster technology innovation partnerships among higher education and industry, seed research and commercialization endeavors and better educate students and faculty in inventiveness and entrepreneurialism.
