"Purandara-Vijaya"

On the occasion of Shri Purandara Daasara Aaraadhane, Kannada Sangha (Singapore) is organising Carnatic Vocal & Instrumental and Hindustani Vocal Music Competitions on 27th January 2019 (Sunday) to commemorate Sangeeta Pitamaha Shri. Purandara Daasaru's and Shri. Vijaya Dasaru's rich contribution to the musical world. We invite you to register for this event and to make use of this wonderful opportunity to showcase your talent. 

This year's competition is dedicated to propagate the works and compositions of Shri. Purandara Daasaru and Shri. Vijaya Dasaru.

GENERAL RULES & REGULATIONS
  1. Participants should sing or play 'Shri Purandara Daasara ' (excluding the Pillari GeethegaLu)  or "Shri. Vijaya Dasaru" compositions only.
  2. Participants MUST NOT sing or play compositions selected in previous years. Kannada Sangha validates data with previous years. 
  3. No "alapana" or "Swaras" for the Normal Category. 
  4. No rhythm to accompany. Singing is aCapella based for Carnatic Vocal. 
  5. Hindustani Style - Selected Songs as per the theme to be presented in Hindustani Style and electronic Tabla is allowed. New *
  6. Participant should memorize the song that they are going to present.
  7. For Group Songs, the group size MUST be 4 Singers. To avail the Member Discount, at least 2 of the group participants MUST be Kannada Sangha Members. 
  8. Group Song can add accompanied artists / percussion instruments (Max 2). New *
  9. For Open category (Ragam, Kalapana swaram, nerava-Optionall), there is no age limit. New *
  10. Song Selection by Participants MUST EXCLUDE the following songs:
  • Venkatachala Nilayam 
  • Bhagyada Lakshmi Baramma 
  • Nammama Sharade 
  • Jagadodarana 
  • Narayana Ninna Naamada Smarane
  • Venkata Ramanane baro. 
  • Rama Rama


Notes:
  • Group song (Adult) category has 7 minutes in total and one of the group members has to present a narration (description) of the composition. 
  • Group Song category can include Percussion accompanied artists (Max 2). New* 
  • Song Selection by participants MUST exclude the following Songs as specified in the Point 2 of General Rules and Regulations.
