2013 Design Awards

                 PROFESSIONAL ELIGIBILITY & REGISTRATION INFORMATION

PURPOSE

To offer recognition and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our colleages in the field of architecture and design.

ENTRY ELEGIBILITY

  • All submittals must be commissioned projects – either built or unbuilt.
  • Entrant and Project Designer must be a Registered Architect or Interior Designer
  • There are no restrictions as to project location or completion date.

ELIGIBLE PROJECTS:

  • There are no limitations of category or of type of structure. Structures may be built or unbuilt.
  • All projects are judged on a stand-alone merit basis. Each submission will be evaluated on the extent to which, in the Jury’s opinion, the Project achieved a well-designed solution to the program that defined the Project requirements.
  • Non-building projects (Sculpture, Hardware, Fixtures, Furniture, etc.) may be submitted.
  • Aspects of sustainability apply to every submission and will be taken into consideration accordingly.


AWARD CATEGORIES

The Jury may award the following levels of recognition

  • Award of Excellence
  • Honor Award
  • Merit Award
  • Special Recognition Award
The Jury may select more than one project for each award. Each project may only recieve one award.

JURY

The Jury will consist of a distingushed panel; decisions of the jury shall be final

PUBLICITY

All entries are accepted with the explicit free right of publication and use by the Society of American Registered Architects and its sponsors without need for further approval.

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS (submissions for judging must be postmarked by Friday, July 12th)

Upon receipt of the Intent Form and applicable entry fees, you will receive an email containing submission instructions, data sheets & a project registration number.  This information will include detailed directions regarding the preparation and submission of your project for judging.  Below is a brief summary of the items that will be required:

  •  (1) CD containing a power point presentation with no more than (10) slides.  The images on the slides shall include site plan, floor plan(s), elevations, perspective renderings or photos showing overall exterior design and at least one interior view.
  • A Project statement of no more than 250 typewritten words describing:
    • program requirements
    • site
    • structural or code requirements
    • design solution
    • material and system selection
    • size (SF)
    • cost/budget
  • Award recipients will be asked to furnish (1) 24” x 36” foam core board of their project for display at the Awards Celebration in September.  Please visit the SARA PA Council website in upcoming weeks for Awards Celebration details, including location & admission ticket information
  • Each entry fee includes (1) complimentary ticket for admission to the Awards Celebration.
JREGISTRATION

  • SARA Members:  $150 Per Entry
  • Non-Members:   $350 Per Entry

Registration is open to all SARA members and non-members.  If you wish to take advantage of the reduced entry fees by applying for membership, please download, complete, and email the membership application form to:

You must send your $150 introductory membership fee AND your registration fees in the same payment.

Registration form and fees must be submitted by Friday, June 14th.

Entrants may submit more than one project.  Choose the appropriate number of entries and associated fees on the registration page.  If more than 2 entries are desired, a separate registration form must be submitted with a unique email address.  As an alternative, a mail-in form is available for download HERE that can accommodate any quantity of entries.
