Human Resources Networking Meeting

This HR Meeting will be a unique opportunity for individuals supporting all functions of HR - Recruitment - Safety - Employee Relations - Compensation and Benefits - Compliance - Talent Development - to come together to listen, learn, network and build a professional community to advance our agencies performance.

Preliminary Schedule

8 – 9 am                           Registration/Networking/Resources

9 – 10:30                          The Talent Landscape: Effective Recruiting Practices – Niamh Pommerenke,                                                   Seabright HR

Recruitment is all about attracting, hiring, retaining and developing the right people. Specifically, it's about finding the right employee for the right position. In fact, sourcing and hiring the right people is often cited as the number one concern of organizations today. It seems that everyone is competing for the best and brightest employees. Recruiting in the nonprofit world, however, presents a unique set of challenges for a myriad of reasons, making it difficult for many nonprofits to hire and maintain employees over time. Participants at this training will leave with recruitment strategies they can implement in their organizations, given the unique set of challenges they may be facing, in addition to having the opportunity to discuss those experiences with other HR practitioners in the field.

10:30 – 11:00                  Break/Networking

11:00 – 12:00                  Region 9 HR Network – Building a Community for Good! – Edward Condon,                                                  Region 9 Head Start Association

During this session, we will discuss building an HR Network for R9HSA agencies.  These elements may include a forum site, annual in-person meetings, quarterly virtual meetings, and much more.  Purposeful engagement of our member organizations is key to achieving great services for Head Start families in Region 9.  We believe a vibrant HR Network could help make that ideal a reality.

12:00 – 1:00                    Lunch & Marina Walk

1:00 – 2:30                      Coaching and Learning Organizations – Christine Mattos, Masterful Strategies

Our work responsibilities continue to demand so much of us. Effective communication is more critical than ever.  Are people in your organization challenged with understanding some of the information you and your peers expect that they comprehend? Are people talking and only some appearing to listen?  Are managers or staff feeling misunderstood?  Join colleagues from a variety of programs as we share best practices and explore how all of us are doing with leading the parallel process of supporting staff in providing quality services in ways that encourage and support children and families while modeling the same behaviors in relationships with staff in our organizations (while we are staying healthy, energetic and inspired).

2:30 – 3:00                      Break

3:00 – 4:00                      Hot Topics Panel and Closing Remarks – Bill Donaldson, The Unified Insurance                                             Agency, Region 9 Head Start Board of Directors
