  • The 2016 Journeying Home Conference features Maggie Callanan as she presents, "Final Journeys, Final Gifts." Since becoming a hospice nurse in 1981, Maggie Callanan has studied, taught and written about death and dying. This includes the unique and symbolic communication of the dying, which is often labeled as “confused language” and consequently often ignored by professional and family caregivers. Addressing medical, personal, emotional and spiritual aspects of life’s final journey, Maggie delivers practical, no-nonsense answers to difficult questions tempered by humor, wisdom and compassion.

Programs presented as part of the Journeying Home Conference are designed to meet continuing education criteria for nursing, social work and other professions. The target audience for this conference includes social workers, chaplains, nurses, LPNs, counselors and anyone who cares for the dying. Verification and appropriate materials will be provided.

Continuing education units and hours available at this program are:

  • 6 social work CEUs
  • 6.25 contact hours for nurses
  • 6 continuing education hours for North Dakota professional counselors
