Pulitzer Winner Stacy Schiff on "The Revolutionary: Samuel Adams"

On Wednesday, February 1, at 6 p.m., Pulitzer-winning historian Stacy Schiff will discuss her New York Times best-selling new book, “The Revolutionary: Samuel Adams,” in a virtual discussion with JHC Executive Director Kevin Peraino.

Schiff’s new book has been named one of the best books of 2022 by the New York Times, the New Yorker, NPR, the Wall Street Journal, the Boston Globe, Oprah Daily, the Los Angeles Times, TIME, USA Today, and many more.

“For too long, Adams, hiding behind his many masks and stratagems, has evaded historians, but Schiff draws him from the shadows into the spotlight he so richly deserves,” says former JHC speaker Ron Chernow, author of Alexander Hamilton. “A glorious book that is as entertaining as it is vitally important. This is a time for Americans to meditate on the fate of their republic and no better place to start than here, at the beginning, with this book.”

Schiff is also the author of the #1 best-selling The Witches: Salem, 1692, which historian David McCullough called “brilliant from start to finish”; the #1 best-selling Cleopatra: A LifeVéra (Mrs. Vladimir Nabokov), winner of the Pulitzer Prize; Saint-Exupéry, a Pulitzer Prize finalist; and A Great Improvisation: Franklin, France, and the Birth of America, winner of the George Washington Book Prize, the Ambassador Award in American Studies, and the Gilbert Chinard Prize of the Institut Français d’Amérique.
