Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day!
April 11, 2019
The NCDOT and WTS NC Triangle Chapter are collaborating on a student outreach program for “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” Day on Thursday, April 11, 2019. High School girls interested in engineering will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on transportation-related engineering activities and to participate in a question-and-answer session with female engineers from various civil engineering disciplines. Our engineers will share the daily duties and skills necessary for their jobs, while encouraging young women to maintain and improve their math and science skills, which are required to enter STEM careers in college.
With women making up only 12 percent of civil engineers in the United States, “Introduce a Girl to Engineering” strives to promote engineering as a desirable career option for young adults. WTS NC Triangle Chapters needs your help assisting with an engineering activity, lunch preparation and mentoring our student attendees. |
As part of the program, we would like to present the mentees with a gift bag of goodies. If your firm has any give-aways they would like included, please contact
Karen Reynolds at Kreynolds@ncdot.gov to make arrangements.
