Brian Dunnigan joined the Clements Library staff in 1996, but he was already a familiar face in the reading room as a researcher. His expertise in cartography includes manuscript military maps and plans of the 18th and 19th centuries, town and fortification plans, and the mapping of the Great Lakes. In addition to caring for the map collections and publishing research, Brian expanded his duties to serve as the Clements' Interim Director in 2007-2008 and was named Associate Director in 2010. He also provided leadership for our fellowship programs and served as editor of The Quarto, the bi-annual publication of the Clements Library Associates.
