Keizer Rapids Park Cleanup:
On Water Event

WHAT: Join Willamette Riverkeeper for a trash cleanup event at Keizer Rapids Park during the Spring For Your River Cleanup Series! We will be working in partnership with the City of Keizer, Oregon State Parks, Oregon State Marine Board, Marion County and Salem Kayak Rentals for this on the water cleanup event. While in the park you'll also have an opportunity to connect with City of Salem, Clagget Creek Watershed Council and Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife at their booth in Keizer Rapids Park.

WHEN & WHERE: Saturday, April 23 from 9am - 12pm at Keizer Rapids Park. Check in will be located near the Keizer Rapids Boat Ramp. The parking lot is near the boat ramp at the south end of the park. Public restrooms are available.

DETAILS: Our group will gather at 9am for a safety discussion with the Oregon State Marine Board, Willamette Riverkeeper and Oregon State Parks. Following the discussion, we will launch from Keizer Rapids Park paddling upstream to collect garbage. We will be returning to Keizer Rapids Park to takeout and unload garbage to conclude this event.

Pack along water, a face mask to be worn during check in and when working in close proximity to others, PFD, your paddle craft, work gloves if you have them and sturdy close toed shoes. Dry suit or waders are recommended as the river is very cold this time of year. Trash bags, non-latex gloves and trash pickers will be provided. We recommend each paddler bring a spare set of clothes in the unlikely case that they do end up tipping over.

Don't have your own boat? Not to worry, Salem Kayak Rentals will be providing kayaks free of charge for this event. Each kayak reservation comes with a paddle and PFD. Must be 18+ to reserve a boat or 15+ accompanied by a parent/guardian. Salem Kayak Rental requires kayak users be less than 260 pounds and under 6' 3". Reservation must be done through the "Register Now" button below.

RAFFLE: All participants will be entered into a raffle to win a free kayak rental for two from Salem Kayak Rentals, a 100th anniversary blanket from Oregon State Parks or a 12 month parking permit for Oregon State Parks.

MORE EARTH DAY EVENTS: Stick around after the cleanup for a self guided virtual tour of Keizer Rapids Park. The tour will take you on a 1/2 mile loop with 15 checkpoints along the way where you'll learn more about natural features within the park.
