2023 Equity Market Outlook

Plan to join us on Wednesday, February 22nd at the Savannah Golf Club as we welcome back Fran Smitherman, Senior Vice President and Director of Equity Research for Regions Investment Management. Fran will provide an outlook for the equity markets for the upcoming year.

Fran joined Regions in 1998 and leads the Regions Investment Management Equity Research area.  Regions is a regional bank that operates throughout the South, Midwest and Texas and is headquartered in Birmingham, Ala.

Prior to assuming her current role in 2012, Fran was an equity analyst covering many sectors of the S&P 500, including Consumer Discretionary, Consumer Staples, Industrials, Telecommunication Services, Healthcare and Financial Services. Previous to her role at the bank, Fran was an equity research assistant at Sterne, Agee and Leach.

She earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1996 from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa with a focus on Finance, Economics and Spanish, and a graduate degree from the same University in 1997. She is a CFA Charterholder.

Attendance guidelines:

Resource Company Representatives (RC): Up to 1 per company per meeting. Resource companies are defined as companies that provide services and expertise that may be of value to SFE’s. Representatives of resource companies are people who are not involved in the financial management or decision making of the Company. Resource companies may include but are not limited to banks, insurance providers, lawyers, investment advisers, public accountants, colleges, staffing/recruiting, payroll providers, consultants, bookkeepers, etc.

If you are new to the CFO Council or have not attended a meeting in the last twelve months, we encourage you to attend the February meeting free of charge. The CFO Council is a great way to network with fellow finance professionals while enjoying a wonderful breakfast at the Savannah Golf Club. Annual dues are $200 for 2023 and can be paid on the Council's website at www.cfocouncil.com. A single meeting cost is $35.00 and can be paid on the website or at the door as well.
