AN EVENING WITH
Gary Nabhan and Toby Hemenway
FROM LAND TO MOUTH - Connecting People to Place, Taste and Story

Gardens for Humanity proudly presents two of the world's leading visionaries of the slow-food and agricultural renaissance movements, Gary Paul Nabhan, PhD and Toby Hemenway, as keynote speakers launching the 2011 Spring Planting Festival. The Festival will take place during the week of March 12 to March 20.

This unique and exciting evening brings Gary Nabhan and Toby Hemenway together for the very first time. They will present their latest thoughts on the state of our food supply, climate change and progress in new regenerative farming strategies, as well as approaches currently missing in our efforts to meet these challenges.  Local seedsman and educator Bill McDorman from Seeds Trust will host the evening and moderate a panel with Dr. Nabhan and Mr. Hemenway after both presentations. Attendees should come prepared to be surprised and inspired.

Gary Paul NabhanGary Paul Nabhan, PhD, is an internationally celebrated nature writer and educator, seed saver, conservation biologist and sustainable agriculture activist who has been called, “the father of the local food movement” by Mother Earth News. Dr. Nabhan is also an orchard-keeper, wild forager and Ecumenical Franciscan brother in his hometown of Patagonia, Arizona near the Mexican border. Dr. Nabhan has authored, co-authored or edited over 20 books on the cultural significance of food and agriculture.
