First Line Supervision Course

About the Course:

This POST approved course is designed to provide a basic foundation and principles in effective supervision to current supervisors or those preparing for the supervisory role. Participants will be exposed to a variety of leadership and human performance concepts. This is a comprehensive leadership development course that is open to public safety professionals from law enforcement, EMS, communications or corrections. Civilian support personnel are also encouraged to attend. Comprehensive training modules will expose participants to a variety of subjects related to organizational leadership, supervision and improving performance.

This 40-hour course is Missouri POST approved and also counts toward the mandatory three-year Racial Profiling requirement. Break out inlcudes: 8 hours Legal Studies, 16 hours Interpersonal Studies, 12 hours Technical Studies, and 4 hours Skill Development.

**This course also includes: 2-hours training on officer well-being, including mental health awareness; 2-hours  training on fair and impartial policing practices including implicit bias recognition; 2-hours on tactical training to include de-escalation techniques, crisis management, critical thinking and social intelligence; and 1-hour racial profiling training.

Course Fees:

The course fee is $400.00 per person. All fees must be paid in full PRIOR to finalizing enrollment in the course. This course must have a minimum enrollment of 13 people in order for it to be held.

This course is hosted by the Missouri Safety Center, Midwest Police Consultants, and the Missouri Innovation Campus.
