Workplace Violence and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)

PRESENTED BY:

Jackie K. Moore, Ph.D.,  CEO

North Suffolk Mental Health Association

OVERVIEW: Jackie Moore and North Suffolk Mental Health Association recently reached a settlement with OSHA after a two-year litigation with the federal agency related to a workplace death at North Suffolk.  Jackie's presentation will review North Suffolk's experiences with OSHA during this process and its  potential impact on human service provider organizations moving forward.  Workplace violence has become a top priority for OSHA in recent years.  In response to a complaint, OSHA investigators have broad authority to review employer's policies and procedures and to impose corrective action in cases where they deem the employer's processes are inadequate to reduce or eliminate employee's exposure to recognized hazards like workplace violence.  Jackie will cover the challenges North Suffolk faced trying to protect the privacy and safety of their clients and staff while simultaneously addressing the demands of OSHA.  We hope you will join us to hear more about this important topic for all ABH member organizations.

COST: $30.00
