While no two refugees share the same experience, many encounter common barriers while in transit and resettlement. Having fled from oppressive governmental, interpersonal, and environmental factors, refugees often experience severe trauma. This workshop will offer insight into the experiences of refugees in Rhode Island and will feature a strong advocacy component, as local organizers discuss community building strategies that support refugee advocacy.
