 Speaker Bios;

Martha Mihalick, Senior Editor – Greenwillow/HarperCollins:  Martha acquires and edits manuscripts from picture books to teen novels of commercial and literary appeal. A few of the books she has edited recently include New York Times bestselling series The Girl of Fire and Throns by Rae Carson, and Breathe and Resist by Sarah Crossan Death Sworn by Leah Cypess.

NOA WHEELER - Editor at Henry Holt: Noa has worked with award-winning authors and illustrators such as Bryan Collier and Denise Fleming. She has worked on Fabian Escapes, the follow-up to the Caldecott Honor-winning Hondo & Fabian. Noa is drawn to YA and higher-level MG novels, and is particularly interested in fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction/ historical romance, and contemporary stories. She is not looking for PBs with a gross-out factor or religious books. She's looking for a good ghost story, not interested in horse stories. Loves fantasy but magical elements have to be well-thought out.

Laura Whitaker, Associate Editor - Bloomsbury Children's Books: Laura has worked on upcoming literary thrillers Conjured by Sarah Beth Durst and picture books Penguin and Pinecone and Found, both written and illustrated by Salina Yoon. She is particularly interested in innovative, soul-searing literary fiction; edgy, wrenching and unforgettable coming-of-age novels handling sensitive topics and issues; and quirky, funny and honest picture books that present first experiences in an unexpected light.

Angie Chen is an editorial assistant at Farrar Straus Giroux Books for Young Readers, where she works on picture books, middle grade, and young adult novels. She is particularly interested in middle-grade stories about eccentric duos, fantastic worlds, and unforgettable characters. For YA, she enjoys heartwarming, realistic romances with charming voices. For picture books, she likes funny and quirky stories, or anything about cats.
