Essentials of Primary Care Psychiatry Conference 2017 

Community Health Network of Connecticut, Inc. is pleased to announce a free integrated behavioral health educational program for Connecticut Medical Assistance Program (CMAP) enrolled primary care providers on October 13 & 14, 2017.

Dr. Robert McCarron and associate faculty members will provide didactic and interactive provider training in the following areas:

  • Psychiatric assessments in primary care
  • Mood disorders
  • Psychotic disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Personality disorders
  • Substance misuse assessment and treatment
  • Pain psychiatry
  • Pain management and suicide risk assessment 

This program is approved for 16 hours of category 1 CME credits by Medical Education Resources. This program meets Connecticut state requirements of two hours of CME in behavioral health.

Continental breakfast and lunch provided each day.

Daily Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, the participants should be able to:

  • Effectively screen for depression in a primary care setting
  • Implement evidence-based treatment for depression
  • Identify when it is appropriate to seek mental health consultation/referral
  • Identify medically ill patients at high-risk for depression
  • Describe the common symptoms or signs that overlap between medical and psychiatric illness
  • Use appropriate history-taking and diagnostic studies to differentiate medical from psychiatric illness
  • Provide evidence-based treatment for common co-morbid psychiatric illness within a medically ill patient
