Most building professionals have some understanding of why air sealing is important, particularly for houses in a cold country like Canada. What seems to confound many, including building officials and designers is how to build air barrier systems that are effective, practical and inexpensive.

Michael Lio is a professional engineer and a nationally recognized building science and building code expert specializing in housing and small buildings. He has consulted on projects and publications across North America relating to housing, energy efficiency and sustainability. He has been facilitating training for building professionals and the building industry for over 25 years. Michael has taught sustainable housing in the Architecture Program at Ryerson University for 12 years. Since 2000, he has taught building science and building technology at the Daniels Faculty of Architecture at the University of Toronto in both the undergraduate and graduate architecture programs.
John Godden has over 25 years of experience as a home and heating system designer and hands-on builder with projects that include the "Clearsphere" a CHBC EnviroHome. A graduate of the Bachelor of Environmental Studies at the University of Waterloo, John is a leading rater and consultant for the R-2000, ENERGY STAR, EnerGuide and LEED for Homes programs. John co-designed ENERGY STAR workshops for builders and advisors in Ontario and regularly delivers seminars on air-tightness, better building practices, and green sales and marketing.

If you have not cancelled yourself from a seminar within 48 hours (2 business days) or less prior to the workshop and you didn’t show up, you will be charged a full fee. | |||
If you need to cancel yourself from a seminar and it is 48 hours (2 business days) or less, you will be able to send someone else from your organization. | |||
A full refund of the paid amount (less $50 + HST Administration Fee) will be issued for cancellations made up to 48 hours prior to the seminar. (Cancellations must be received by phone or email) | |||
Rescheduling, relocating, or cancelling events is at the discretion of buildABILITY. Should this happen: we will provide a notice 5 business days prior to the seminar, you will not be charged. |
