The Value of Community in Entrepreneurship

The road of entrepreneurship can be a lonely one. However, the opposite is true for the Professional Women’s Network’s next speaker — Vivian McCormick,  Co-Founder of Flax Sleep and the Lady Business Summit.  Vivian will reflect on her journey over the past three years, and how building and engaging a community has shaped her both as an entrepreneur and in her role as Business Development Director at Spring Activator, where she supports impact-driven entrepreneurs.

Vivian will engage us in a dynamic conversation about community, including:

  • The value of community in entrepreneurship
  • The power of working with friends
  • The reward of engaging with social purpose organizations
  • How to build and enhance your community

About our speaker, Vivian McCormick:

Vivian McCormick is the co-founder of Flax Sleep, a direct to consumer linen bedding company, and the Lady Business Summit, a conference focusing on tactical support and community for womxn entrepreneurs. Vivian practiced law for over a decade before venturing into entrepreneurship, first with a national law firm and then with Business Development Bank of Canada. Shortly after starting Flax Sleep, she also started working with Vancouver-based Spring Activator, an organization that supports early stage impact entrepreneurs and the larger impact ecosystem with training and mentorship programs. She helps entrepreneurs learn how to raise investment capital and various ecosystem partners design and deliver programs to further Spring's goal of making impact in business mainstream.
