Lunch “The New Physics of Wealth and Philanthropy: The Money, Meaning and Mobilizing Experiences”
- Paul G. Schervish, Director, Center on Wealth and Philanthropy, Boston College

Paul G. Schervish is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Center on Wealth and Philanthropy at Boston College.  In his address Paul will speak about new findings on the patterns of charitable giving and wealth transfer. He will explain the underlying meaning of philanthropy as a moral biography of philia, which is defined as care, friendship love, and mutual nourishment. Finally he will explain how going beyond the conventional categories of motivations to the arena of mobilizing experiences better captures what animates the charitable giving of donors.
