Session Highlight: Successful Grant Writing Tips
The keynote discussion for the 2015 Winter Meeting will focus on grant writing specifically for conservation districts. The hour-long event will cover ways for districts to write for "public" grant dollars. Time will allow for candid questions and answers, including a review of private grant dollars versus public grant funds. For any districts interested in writing successful grant application packets, this is a session you don't want to miss.

About our Speaker
Walt Whitmer, Senior Extension Associate with Penn State Extension, has more than 20 years of grant writing experience under his belt. Half of this time has been spent teaching grant writing workshops and participating in external grant review committees.

In his role with the Extension Office, Walt is responsible for statewide economic and community development research and educational programs. His areas of focus include community and economic development; community and organizational development; strategic planning; engagement and public participation; conflict management; program evaluation and facilitation; and grant writing.

Of his grant writing experience, Walt says, “Participation in numerous grant review committees has provided much more learning about this entire process, far more than I could have gained from books or my own grant writing experience.” Walt has a B.S. in Agricultural Economics and an M.S. in Rural Sociology and Demography, both from Penn State.
