Dance With Purpose

We've planned a great day for a great cause, featuring an all-star Rhythm & Motion dance class, food, and fun benefiting The Stand Tall Education Network. Stand Tall funds a school in Kampala, Uganda, that serves some of the city's most disadvantaged youth, and is staffed entirely by local educators. All funds raised directly benefit the students and the school, and are not used for travel or administrative costs. How did we choose this organization? Stand Tall has multiple ties to Rhythm & Motion and the larger ODC community:

Stand Tall was founded in 2009 by Nicole Schouela, former instructor and associate director of Rhythm & Motion from 1980-1990.
Rhythm & Motion founder Consuelo Faust's daughter Madeleine volunteered at the school in Kampala for three months last year.
Janice Garrett, contemporary dance instructor and co-director of Garrett+Moulton Productions, a resident company at ODC, has also worked at the school and is involved in ongoing fundraising efforts.
Finally, a group of Rhythm & Motion students have already pooled their resources to sponsor individual students that have graduated from Stand Tall in their continuing studies.

Your Ticket & Donation
Rhythm & Motion instructors are donating their time and energy to this wonderful cause. One-hundred percent of all proceeds from this event directly benefit the Stand Tall primary school and students in Kampala. $20 of the $25 All-Star class ticket is tax deductible, and we will provide you with a receipt for your records. Please also consider making an additional 100% tax-deductible donation beyond the ticket price to further support Stand Tall students and school operations.

Participation Waiver
Please read this Liability Waiver. You will be asked to accept its terms when you complete the registration form.

1. Voluntary participation: I have voluntarily chosen to participate in the Rhythm & Motion All-Star Class and Fundraiser for Stand Tall Education Network event to be held on Feb. 8, 2014 at The Women's Building, and in dance training offered by ODC School/ Rhythm & Motion Dance Program (hereinafter ODCS/RMDP) and that I am under no obligation to participate in this event or continue such dance training.

2. Assumption of Risk: Dance training and related activities carry certain risks that can result in injury, both minor and major. I voluntarily assume and accept all risks and potential hazards involved in dance training, participation in the event, and related activities provided by ODCS/RMDP. I understand that I am strongly advised to obtain comprehensive medical insurance prior to engaging in this activity.

3. Release: In consideration of the opportunity afforded me to participate in the dance training offered at the The Women's Building, and participation in the Rhythm & Motion All-Star Class & Fundraiser for Stand Tall Education Network, I am waiving the right to file any claim or lawsuit against ODCS/RMDP, its employees, members, officers, directors, agents or representatives for any injury or damage resulting from my participation in this dance training, the All-Star Class, or all related activities, including, but not limited to, claim of injury, damage to facility, equipment, supervision, including negligence or acts of omission by ODCS/RMDP, its employees, members, officers, directors, agents or representatives.

4. Knowing and Voluntary Execution: I have carefully read this agreement and fully understand its contents. I am aware that this is a release of liability and a promise not to sue ODCS/RMDP or its employees, members, officers, directors, agents or representatives and I sign this agreement of my own free will. I understand that ODCS/RMDP have the right to refuse services and classes to any individual at any time.

5. Consent to Photograph and Videotape: I hereby irrevocably consent to, and authorize the use and reproduction by ODCS/RMDP of any photographs, recordings, videotapes and/or other reproductions which have been secured by or for Rhythm & Motion and/or the ODC Dance Commons, for promotional purposes.

6. Integrated Agreement: This Liability agreement supersedes and replaces all previous agreements between parties concerning this event, whether written or oral.

You can purchase your All-Star class ticket and/or make an additional donation by PayPal or credit card online, via check or cash at the Rhythm & Motion office at the ODC Dance Commons, or onsite the day of the event. Please note that if you pay by credit card or PayPal online, your statement will show a charge from "GARRETT+MOULTON," Janice Garrett's nonprofit which is kindly processing fees and donations for this fundraiser.
