Destress, Decompress, and Have Fun: Essential Skills for Life

This is a 1.5 hour session.

In order to avoid burn out and mitigate vicarious trauma, Social Workers must be vigilant about practicing good self care. This presentation shares easy and effective skills to support our bodies, emotions, and thoughts in releasing the traumatic impact of the stories we bear witness to everyday.I will share skills and information from polyvagal theory, somatic experiencing, and gratitude research.I will present the material experientially in a manner that promotes connectivity and builds resilience. My hope is that everyone attending will leave the workshop a little less stressedand with a little more ability to stay that way.

Presented by:

Cheri Loggains, LCSW graduated from Smith College School for Social Work in 1990. She practiced for 10 years in Massachusetts before moving to New Mexico for 20 years ago. During her career she has worked in many different settings with many different populations. In this time flexible, fluid, and ever changing self-care has become a corner stone of her ability to stay in the field. She currently works providing integrated behavioral health counseling at Southwest Care Center and in Private Practice in Santa Fe. She is raising two very cute COVID puppies which you may have the opportunity to say hello to during her presentation.
