CHOICE+ Champion Leader Training

You may have heard about the CHOICE+ Program and the various resources created to date that are focused on improving mealtimes in long-term care. Over the past year, we have piloted CHOICE+ in three homes and have learned how this program can be implemented. We have developed a one-day training program to help more homes with making similar mealtime improvements and piloting this program.

Participants will receive a detailed manual outlining steps for making change and how to access and use CHOICE+ resources to help their team improve mealtimes.

• Other team members/leaders with a passion for making change!

Learning outcomes

• Learn about the CHOICE+ tools and resources, and how to use them to enhance mealtimes
• Learn communication techniques to strengthen relationships with residents and team members
• Learn how to use information and data to drive practice

Research project

• This training is being evaluated as part of a research project. Participants can complete a questionnaire before and after the workshop, and participate in an interview 3-4 months later. This evaluation is an optional.
• This study has been reviewed and received ethics clearance through a University of Waterloo Research Ethics Committee.

Registration

• Each home/organization can send one or two team members for this training. (At least one management is recommended). 
• There is no cost for the training.
• Registration is required.

Lunch

• Lunch will be provided. Please indicate any dietary requests upon registaration.

 

Please note parking is available at a daily flat rate of $10. The parking lot is a short 5 minute walk from the building. Accessible parking is available out front. You will receive an e-mail prior to the event confirming directions and parking details.
