Teacher Workshop
July 19-21, 2022

A CONTINUING EDUCATION PROJECT WET AND PROJECT LEARNING TREE WORKSHOP FOR PRE K-12 EDUCATORS

In this interactive workshop you’ll learn, first hand, where your water comes from. You’ll explore our mountain watersheds, learn about the effects of forest fires on our water, conduct water quality studies, tour a water-wise garden and visit water and wastewater treatment facilities. You’ll walk away with the nationally recognized Project Learning Tree and “Project WET” (Water Education Today) curriculum guides, a better understanding of where your water comes from and access to innovative educational opportunities provided by the Aurora Water and Aurora Parks, Recreation & Open Space Departments.

  • July 19-21, 2022 - 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    Travel to the mountains, Aurora Reservoir and our water purification facilities throughout the workshop via bus. Dress for the outdoors and be ready to do some hiking on gravel trails and lots of walking. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

  • Earn 1.5 semester hours of graduate/re- certification credit FREE
    Aurora Water will cover the tuition cost for teachers who teach in the city of Aurora. Workshop will provide 24 hours of professional development and a certificate at completion.

  • Water Test Kits
    If two or more teachers from the same school in Aurora attend you will receive a FREE water quality monitoring kit. (A $200 value.)

  • Location
    The workshop will start each day at Star K Ranch - Morrison Nature Center, 16002 E. Smith Road, Aurora, CO 80011

  • Limited Attendance and Pandemic Precautions
    All required precautions at the time of the workshop will be in place. Participants may drive their own vehicle or ride on the bus. Most workshop activities will be conducted outside. The maximum number of participants will be 25 and may be decreased if needed. Acceptance will be on a first come, first served basis, so apply early.

  • Free
    A $50 fee is required to reserve your spot. Checks will be returned at the completion of the workshop.
