Accessibility in California: Welcome to the Future

Provides the complete 5 hours of disability access coursework required for California Licensure.

Cost: $95 for AIA Members; $135 for non-members. Payment *must* be received in order to hold your spot for this program. We do expect this program to sell out.

Learning Objectives

  1.  Overview of Federal and State accessibility laws/codes
  2.  Overview of SB 1608 and the Certified Access Specialist program
  3. Overview of the new 2010 ADA - What are the changes?
  4. Review of changes to the ADA Standards for Accessible Design
  5. Review of changes to the 2010 CBC accessibility requirements
  6. Conflicts between the 2010 ADAAG and the CBC
  7. Application of accessibility codes and regulations to hypothetical design situations
  8. Questions, answers and discussion

Attendees will be given a 60-minute lunch break. Lunch is not provided, however, we will provide coffee and muffins in the morning for those arriving early. Please bring a brown bag lunch or plan to eat at one of the nearby restaurants downtown.
