SMRO- Support Broker Re-certification Training, September 6th, 2018 

The Maryland Developmental Disabilities Administration (DDA) is sponsoring a one day Support Broker Recertification on December 22, 2017 in Central Maryland for currently certified Support Brokers who want to continue to provide the service of Support Brokerage to those in the Self-Directed Service option of the Community Pathways Waiver. Recertification is required every 2 years. This is not a general information session for those wanting to learn or learn more about Self-Directed Services, it is solely for certified Support Brokers wanting to renew their certification.

There is a new format for the Recertification, which includes the first ½ day of training with newly certifying Support Brokers who will be concluding their training. This approach provides opportunity to work, network, mentor, train and develop together as well as a sense of community among Support Brokers. Because of this connection, new and recertifying Support Brokers may choose to pair up for mentoring post training on their own.  We will also address a new quality enhancement component together.

Support Broker Recertification is obtained by registering for the course, completing pre-training course work and a pre-test (Passing the pre-test will confirm your seat in the course), attending the entire 1-day session and passing a post-test. Training attendees that are confirmed for the course will receive the course materials electronically prior to the first day of training for self-printing or use on electronic device during the training. Paper copies will not be furnished. 

Those needing accommodations (ASL, Spanish, large font materials, etc.) must indicate need when registering.  If course is full, priority is given to those who have already been hired by a person in or entering Self-Directed Services.

Certification is valid for 2 years.
