PROGRAM WILL KICK OFF WITH AN IMPORTANT LEGISLATIVE UPDATE BY SCOTT WHAM, GPAHU LEGISLATIVE CHAIR

On Dec. 13, 2016, President Obama signed into law the 21st Century Cures Act.  The Act permits small businesses to utilize stand-alone Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) for the purchase of individual major medical coverage.  Scott will provide an overview of the threats and opportunities to the small group health insurance market posed by the Act, as well as strategies for addressing the Act with clients and prospects.

OVERCOMING THE CHALLENGES OF CLINICAL AND COST TRANSPARENCY IN HEALTHCARE

As consumers take more responsibility for health care decisions, the demand for provider-specific information on health care costs and quality is gaining momentum.  For consumers to make informed health care, and health care financial decisions, they need meaningful, credible data.   Moreover, whether you are a payer or a provider, success in our industry comes down to demonstrating higher quality at a lower cost.  This 2 credit CE will discuss the use of both transparency tools and the alternatives to the traditional fee-for-service model to reduce healthcare costs and increase outcomes.
