Foothill College President's Conference Room, 19012020 Hindsight: The Politicalization of Immigration
This workshop serves as a stepping stone to: a) create a conversation addressing immigration news gathering b) address how the news consumption shapes perceptions c) prepare for the midterm elections and 2020 presidential news cycles on immigration, by going into them with an increased understanding of social media perception, ‘fake news’ and the weaponizing of immigration as a political issue. Overall, critical community-based civic engagement remains vital to a thriving democracy and informed citizenry, this workshop provides key elements in modeling critical collaborations.
