Sacred heart MaryPrayer For Our Country

O Most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Mercy, at this most critical time, we entrust the United States of America to your loving care.  Most Holy Mother, we beg you to reclaim this land for the glory of your Son. Overwhelmed with the burden of the sins of our nation, we cry to you from the depths of our hearts and seek refuge in your motherly protection.

Look down with mercy upon us and touch the hearts of our people.  Open our minds to the great worth of human life and to the responsibilities that accompany human freedom.  Free us from the falsehoods that lead to the evil of abortion and threaten the sanctity of family life.  Grant our country the wisdom to proclaim that God's law is the foundation on which this nation was founded, and that He alone is the True Source of our cherished rights to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.  O Merciful Mother, give us the courage to reject the culture of death and the strength to build a new Culture of Life.  Amen

The blessings the meal has given me today have renewed my spirit which was at a uncomfortably low.  God is Great and so is Magnificat!!

Not enough paper to tell you what it [Magnificat] has meant in my life.

Love seeing all the beautiful ladies from across the diocese!

Filled with faith-full moments

You are wonderful.  It is good that Magnificat exists to hold together Catholic women.  Do not get discouraged, ever!

The service team is doing an amazing job, keep up the great work!!!!  (thanks, we feel the same way about our Advisory team of ladies and volunteers that help us in so many ways.  The meals wouldn't be a success without them.)

I love all "you-all" do for Mary and her children.

[She] was a very pleasant and welcoming hostess.  I brought my [guests], all from different or no churches, and they all felt welcome.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks ladies! Your comments are a blessing to all of us!

About Our Speaker:

Melanie McNary

“My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.”

2 Corinthians 12:9

Is God's grace sufficient?  Come hear how one woman gives testimony to that fact!

Our speaker, Melanie McNary, has courageously confronted significant challenges in all phases of her life.  She clearly sees and understands God's work through her mother's death, her husband's seizure disorder, her estranged relationship with her father and workplace obstacles.

Melanie was born in Montgomery, AL.  Her family traveled a great deal because her father was in the Marine Corps.  As faithful Catholics, Melanie's parents sent their three daughters to weekly catechism.  Following her high school graduation, she worked for Regions Bank and was transferred to Birmingham in 1985.  Working full time and taking night classes, Melanie graduated Cum Laude from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1991 with a major in Human Resources.

Melanie has been married to her husband, Blair, for 22 years.  They have no children, but they love the supporting roles of aunt, uncle and godparents in their families.  As a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Melanie serves as chair of the Finance Committee and leads the Lector Ministry.  Her Cursillo experiences have influenced her to lead and serve in many other ministries.

Melanie recently held the position of Vice President, Human Resources for eight years and was selected as Top HR Director by Birmingham Business Journal in 2009.  Even with all of her success, Melanie readily admits God's recognition of her accomplishments is all she needs.  Through her tremendous spiritual growth, Melanie learned of God's love, power and grace.  She says, "My path at work was not about me, but of being in service to others by opening doors and providing support."

Persevering in faith, this obedient woman accepted God's will and found joy in the valleys of her life.  Melanie says without a doubt, "GOD'S GOT IT!!!!"
