#Elevate PR - A One Day Conference for PR and Communications Practitioners

CPRS Hamilton is proud to present #ElevatePR – a one-day event featuring expert speakers, seasoned practitioners, and leading researchers. Our December 5 conference will introduce you to latest insights into emerging trends, research, case studies, and workshops to leave you inspired, educated and prepared for our ever-changing field.

A continental breakfast, hot lunch and afternoon refreshment break are included, for the price of:

Our day features:

Session 1             8:30 a.m. – 9:15 a.m.

Ralph Benmergui, an award winning broadcaster, senior political advisor, director of communications, and creative problem solving facilitator.  Ralph will kick off the day with a talk on the importance of creativity in business today.

Session 2             9:30 a.m. – 10:15 a.m.

Dr. Terence Flynn, associate professor at McMaster University, who will present “Stories and Storytellers:  How Insights from Neuroscience Are Influencing Professional Communications”. Terry’s talk features research on narrative persuasion and spokesperson credibility and the ethical implications of new technologies and approaches in neuroscience, cognitive behavioural science and psychology.

Networking and Email Break      10:15 a.m. – 10:45 a.m.

Session 3             10:45 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.

Daniel Tisch, President and CEO Argyle Public Relationships, who will discuss his whitepaper “The Elevation of Public Relations”.  Dan will examine the megatrends prevalent in public relations today and discuss the role our field can play in helping organizations build better relationships with consumers, audiences and stakeholders.

Lunch break       11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

Session 4             1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.

Colin Hunter, Director of Communications, Perimeter Institute.  Colin’s case study will showcase the Perimeter Institute’s branded newsroom, which applies a content curation and storytelling approach to demystify astrophysics, engage audiences and further solidify the Institute’s thought leadership.

Session 5             2:00 p.m. – 2:45 p.m.

Mike Leon, Managing Director, Brand Heroes, will lead an immersive and experiential conversation around the power of Brand storytelling with video. By providing a number of case studies that touch on both current and emerging technologies, Mike will share best practices that you can put to use immediately by crafting stories that differentiate, engage and gets results.

Session 6             3:15 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Dr. Alexandre Sévigny, associate professor at McMaster University who will moderate an applied research panel.  Presenters from the Masters of Communications Management program will share their research findings in a practical, yet theoretically sound way that demonstrates the elevation of public relations within organizational culture.
