Stay Fit, Stay Smart this Summer!

Children living in poverty often lack literacy-rich environments outside of school and have no books at home. During the summer, students can lose what they’ve learned the previous year if they are not engaged in classes, recreation, cultural or camp experiences.  United Way is partnering with others to ensure our students have what they need to stay fit and stay smart all summer long.

Unite with businesses, community groups and individuals to create summer bags for children to encourage learning and a healthy lifestyle throughout the summer months.

Join us on Thursday, June 14 for our Stuff the Bag event! These "Stay Fit. Stay Smart." bags will be packed with books, pencils, healthy snacks, healthy activities and sports gear.  We want to encourage students to continue reading and to stay active and healthy all summer long.  Bags will be distributed at summer meal sites in Paterson and Passaic and at local libraries!
