Understanding the IEP Document / Comprender el Documento del IEP
A hands-on learning experience that allows families and service providers to better understand their own child's (or client’s) IEP. PARTICIPANTS MUST BRING A COPY* OF THEIR CHILD'S/CLIENT'S IEP TO THE TRAINING.
Una experiencia de apredizaje práctico que permite a l familias comprender mejor el IEP de su propio hijo/a. LOS PARTICIPANTES DEBEN LLEVAR UNA COPIA* DEL IEP DE SU HIJO/A. Por favor, traiga con usted una copia (no su versión original) del IEP de su hijo/a al entrenamiento.
Beyond SMART Goals / Más allá de los Objectivos SMART
How to ensure your child's IEP has goals that are not only appropriate and measurable but also reasonable and logical. Having appropriate, well-written goals is a defining feature of a solid, supportive IEP. This training will increase families' and service providers' ability to fully participate in the goal-writing portion of the IEP.
Los participantes también aprenderán a asegurar que el IEP de su niño/ a tenga metas que no solo sean apropiadas y medibles, sino también razonables y lógicas. Tener metas apropiadas y bien excritas es un característica definitoria de tener un IEP sólido y de apoyo. Esta capacitación aumentar la capacidad de las familias para participar plenamente en la porciónde escribir metas del IEP.
NOTE: In order to get the greatest benefit from this training, please bring a COPY (not your original) of YOUR CHILD’s IEP with you to this training. This will ensure the information is personalized and meaningful. If you do not already have a copy of your child’s IEP in your native language, please request a translated copy immediately from your child’s school district as it often takes districts months to complete the translation.
NOTA: Para obtener el mayor beneficio de esta capacitación, traiga una COPIA (no su original) del IEP de SU HIJO/A a esta capacitación. Esto asegurará que la información sea personalizada y significativa. Limited Childcare available. If you do not have access to childcare and need childcare in order to attend this event, please indicate so in your registration. If you are able to access childcare elsewhere, please consider saving one of the limited spaces for someone who does not have other options.

If you or your child is a Regional Center Consumer and you are seeking their assistance in paying for this event, you must apply to your Regional Center before registering for this event. Once the Regional Center has approved your request, notify Annette Kunzman at annettek@fasdsoutherncalifornia.org. or at 310-717-9763. Once she receives the authorization from the Regional Center, she will provide you with an Approval Code.
You will need this code, along with your Regional Center and Service Coordinator's contact information, when registering.
