Topic: Planning and Transporation Engineering Support for Areas of Public Health Cocnern
Speaker: Chris Kochtitzky, National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promoation, CDC
Description: Chris’ presentation will cover, broadly, the areas of public health concern in which planning and transportation engineering can provide critical support, as well as the public health programs at the Federal, state, and local level that are working in these areas that have begun to reach across the aisle. More specifically, Chris will then delve into a few real world examples of successful cross-sector partnerships and describe new opportunities for connections between the health sector and those sectors represented by ITE and APA members. Real world example policies, plans, and guidelines informed by the best available public health data and research will be provided.
Chris Kochtitzky is currently a Senior Advisor in CDC's Physical and Health Branch, within the Division of Nutrision, Physical Activity and Obesity. He also serves on the ITE Transportation and Health Task Force. Chris is a member of the American Planning Association, the American Public Health Assocaitiona nd the National Environmental Health Association. He holds an MS in Urban and Regional Planning from Florida State Univeristy and is adjunct faculty in Emory University's Rollins School of Public Health.
