Career Based Learning -
Student Program Liability Workshop

Implementing successful paid and unpaid school-to-work placements can be complicated by concerns such as:

  • Responsibility for students’ safety (when does it start, when does it end?)
  • The machines with/on which students can work
  • Transportation to and from the work-site
  • The extent of the employer's liability for student acts
  • Whose insurance—the employer's and/or the district’s will respond if something goes wrong

Learn about sample forms, tools, resources and recommendations for facilitating and reducing liability issues to inform your individual district’s policy development.

Part 1—8:30am-9:30am:
Paid career-based learning experiences (Youth Apprenticeship, co-op, part-time/summer jobs, paid internships)

Part 2—9:45am-11:00am:
