Comprehensive Intervention Model: Comprehension Focus Group

This three-day workshop is designed for teachers in grades 3-12 to help students learn to consistently use knowledge of text genres and text structures in order to read for a specific purpose and to use appropriate strategies to convey a message. Time will be spent learning the components of the CFG intervention and the alignment of the intervention to classroom instruction and the Common Core State Standards.

Objectives:

  • Explore apprenticeship approach to learning
  • Review zone of proximal development
  • Develop self-regulated learners
  • Teach for transfer
  • Incorporate ongoing assessments
  • Develop format of the intervention (predictable routine)
  • Align to classroom instruction

Audience: Title I and Special Education teachers, Reading Specialists and Interventionists, and Classroom teachers who do interventions 

Facilitator: Linda Braier

*A copy of the text, Teaching for Deep Comprehension by Linda Dorn and Carla Soffos, will be included in the cost and provided to each participant on day one of the training. Participants must register by 9/24/18 to be guaranteed a copy of the text.
