We will walk you through protecting your business’s intellectual property (IP) through patents, trademarks and copyrights. Among other things, you will learn:

  • the risks to businesses when IP is not protected
  • what sorts of IP are protected by each of patents, trademarks and copyrights
  • things to do and not to do prior to seeking protection of IP
  • the procedures usually taken in obtaining each of a patent, a trademark and a copyright

If you're not aware how to protect your business' intellectual property legally, this could mean a loss in assets and value. IP could be easily copied, usually leaving the business owner without any recourse. This workshop will address how businesses can better protect their IP by knowing what legal protections exist and putting those protections in place early on.

We'll cover common issues such as how to

  • Differentiate among trademarks, copyrights and patents
  • Know when and why each type of IP is needed
  • The process and cost of obtaining each
  • The impact of having a patent on the chances of getting funded
  • Distinguish between patentability and patent infringement
