WVL Bookworm Gardens Outing

Join the 4K- 2 Teachers on Friday, October 12th at Bookworm Gardens.

Bookworm

This garden, located in Sheboygan,  is based totally on children’s literature.   Families can set their own schedule as the gardens are open from 10 a.m.- 4 p.m.   Look for Peter Rabbit in Mr. McGregor’s garden, explore the ducklings’ nest in Make Way for Ducklings, build a straw, wood or brick house for The Three Little Pigs, give Harry (the dirty dog) a bath, find Charlotte’s message in the spider web in the barn, and more in these beautiful gardens built to connect to children’s stories.

Plan to meet with the other WVL families at 1:00 p.m. in the treehouse  (inspired by The Magic Treehouse books) with Mrs. Shari Culver, Mrs. Nancy Peerenboom, Ms. Kaye Martin, and Principal Melissa Horn for  storytime.  Although the gardens normally close at 4:00 p.m., there is a special event  as part of Children’s Book Week on this day.  Well known illustrator, Steven Kellogg, will be at the gardens for a book signing from 4-5 p.m.

Bookworm Gardens does not charge admission and parking is free!  If you plan on attending, please click below to register prior to the event.  We look forward to seeing you and your children there!

Optional Outings
  • WVL will sponsor optional outings, organized by teachers and/or parents, for students and families on a regular basis that enhance the curriculum/learning activities. While attendance is not mandatory, it is a wonderful opportunity to meet other school participants and have conversations about the children, programs and share practices that work. It is an opportunity for both the students and parents to socialize. It is our hope that the teacher and parents will work together to design and implement these activities.
  •  For the 2012 - 2013 school year, outings will be scheduled throughout the year and will be posted on the online calendar with the specific dates, times and other details of the outings.
  • Parents are responsible for the cost of transportation and any entrance fees associated with optional outings.
  • Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children at all times.
  • Parents and students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all optional outings.
