WVL End of the Year Milwaukee Zoo Trip

Celebrate the School Year at the Wildest Place in Wisconsin!

Celebrate the end of the school year with a fun-filled trip to the Milwaukee County Zoo! Take this opportunity to meet WVL staff and spend time with other Wisconsin Virtual Learning families before summer begins.  There are more than 2,000 rare and exotic animals, live animal shows, special exhibits and attractions to entertain you.

Zoo Hours:  The zoo is open from 9 AM until 5 PM.

Lunch: Pack your lunch and join us at 11:30 a.m. for a picnic. We will meet to celebrate at Lake Evinrude, right in front of the Harbor Seal Exhibit.  There are a lot of spots to eat a picnic lunch.  Look for the WVL sign!

Who:  The WVL staff that will be celebrating with you are Katie Zander, Chad Peterson, Kaye Martin, Becki Van Keuren, Kristine Schaefer, Kirsten Yoder, Charysse Gregorash, Ellie Swinehart, Nancy Peerenboom, and Jeri Leibergen.

Don’t Forget:  Visit the zoo’s website at www.milwaukeezoo.org for travel information, specific zoo questions and explore all there is to do.  There is even a "Kid's Stuff" tab with activities for the kids to do prior to attending.

Optional Outings
  • WVL will sponsor optional outings, organized by teachers and/or parents, for students and families on a regular basis that enhance the curriculum/learning activities. While attendance is not mandatory, it is a wonderful opportunity to meet other school participants and have conversations about the children, programs and share practices that work. It is an opportunity for both the students and parents to socialize. It is our hope that the teacher and parents will work together to design and implement these activities.
  •  For the 2012 - 2013 school year, outings will be scheduled throughout the year and will be posted on the online calendar with the specific dates, times and other details of the outings.
  • Parents are responsible for the cost of transportation and any entrance fees associated with optional outings.
  • Parents are responsible for the supervision of their children at all times.
  • Parents and students are expected to conduct themselves appropriately at all optional outings.
