Tour a LEED Gold building project in Sebastopol

Hear about the benefits of sourcing food locally

Learn about the USGBC Redwood Empire Chapter

The Redwood Empire Chapter is pleased to present our members, guests and LEED professionals this opportunity to tour two mixed-use building projects in Sebastopol - the Florence Lofts, which achieved LEED Gold, and the Lyding Commons. This walking educational experience will showcase all the exterior sustainability features that led one of these projects to achieve LEED certification. Steve Sheldon of IbisBuilds, as the architect, property developer and builder of these buildings, will give the tour and share his insights into achieving LEED and designing sustainable buildings.

The Florence Lofts, located at 7385 Healdsburg Avenue in Sebastopol, is a mixed use community containing a commercial building and 12 live/work lofts.

About our Presenter: Steve Sheldon
Steve Sheldon is an architect, general building contractor and developer who has been making a "green" impact in Sonoma County for the last 30 years. The core principals from which Steven evolves his sustainable and environmentally sound designs include: energy efficiency and conservation of resources; economy of space while creating a sense of spaciousness; utilization of natural light; and the seamless integration of buildings with their surrounding landscape. For more information about Steve Sheldon's work, visit the IbisBuilds website at www.ibisbuilds.com.

About our Host: Lowell Sheldon of Peter Lowell'sPeter Lowell

Peter Lowell's opened their doors in October 2007, and together with a talented, seasonally-inspired team of chefs, they are at their core an expression of a passion for traditional Italian recipes and a desire to have a sustainable impact on Sonoma County. Peter Lowell's, a West Sonoma County restaurant, features only the finest organic ingredients available. During the summer months, over 60 percent of their produce comes from their very own Two Belly Acres Farm. And a slightly off-kilter attitude towards business -- one where people, animals, and the environment come before profits, where organic is a way of life, and where the highest quality cuisine is a top priority -- is in keeping with our community's standards.
