SCORE Boston Workshop

Positioning Your Non-Profit for Success

You want to make the world a better place, but where should you start? This workshop will explain critical steps you should take to create a well-run organization that can have the impact you seek.

This workshop is designed to provide basic information on starting a not-for-profit organization (NPO) and the initial, significant decisions and processes to get your NPO up and running. These include:

  • How to develop a vision and mission statement for your organization
  • How to recruit a board, find funders, and find potential partners within the non-profit community
  • How to obtain state and federal recognition for your NPO and some limitations on your organization’s activities
  • Unique aspects in financial reporting by NPOs, tax compliance, and tax filing responsibilities.

We will end the workshop with round table discussions where you will be able to ask the panelists any specific questions you may have.

There is a registration fee of $10.00/person for this workshop, paid by credit card in advance, or cash at the door. The fee is non-refundable but can be credited towards a future workshop. If you are unable to attend, email workshops@scoreboston.org and ask for an account credit.
