Every year, in honor of Domestic Violence Prevention Month, the Westside Domestic Violence Network holds a training on the dynamics of domestic violence. Specifically geared towards interns and others new to the field, the purpose of this training is to increase knowledge and effective intervention with regards to the complex challenges faced in domestic violence relationships.
We will be exploring the complex interplay of coercive control, trauma and attachment theory to better attendees understanding of the experiences of those experiencing domestic violence. The materials will also cover how exposure to domestic violence affects children. Participants will gain tools in assessment and in working effectively with survivors of domestic violence.
