IIBEC Portland Chapter's May Chapter Meeting & Educational Event 

The Portland Chapter of the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC Portland Chapter) invites all design professionals, consultants, and contractors practicing in the roofing, waterproofing and building enclosure fields to attend our Chapter Meeting & Educational Presentation on Modern Roofing Technology: Self-Adhered Modified Bitumen Roofing Membranes.

This presentation will provide understanding as we review the current manufacturing and testing procedures that define a good self adhered membrane.  The learning objectives are:

  • Understand trends in the low-slope roofing market which have led the industry to self-adhered applications
  • Describe the advantages and limitations of self-adhered membranes
  • Explain the evolution and advancements in self-adhered modified bitumen roofing products

 

 

 

 

Keynote Speaker:  Betiana Acha, Director of Research & Development and Codes & Compliance for Polyglass

Betiana Acha is Director of Research and Development for Polyglass, U.S.A. She is responsible for leading all the new product developments for roofing and building envelop applications.

Betiana has over 17 years of experience in the construction materials industry, her work was mainly focused on polymers, polymer composite and polymer modified bitumen characterization, failure analysis, and durability. She holds a Ph.D. in Material Science from the Technical University of Kaiserslautern (Germany). She also has completed her MBA at the Florida Atlantic University in Florida. Her contribution to the polymer and polymer composites field is well documented in over 40+ peer reviewed articles in scholarly journal and conference proceeding of international circulation.

Betiana also holds several patents in the field of roof membranes, reflective coatings, and sound proofing.

Previously to joining Polyglass USA, Betiana has managed several critical projects related to durability of advance polymeric composite structures for the Office of Naval Research (US Navy) in USA, Institute for Composite Materials Inc. in Germany and the Polymer Engineering Center at Budapest University of Technology in Hungary.

During this Chapter Meeting, which includes dinner and a time of networking, we will provide an overview of the year's events.
