Zooming in: Finding meaning in measurement

On behalf of the Minnesota Compass Governance Committee, and the collaborative of foundations supporting Minnesota Compass, we invite you to attend our 7th Annual Meeting and Lunch. Take this opportunity to reconnect with others who are leading efforts to secure the vitality of communities throughout our state, and to hear about work in three particularly crucial areas: education, transportation, and local communities.

Zooming in on an issue: Education Equity 
Craig Helmstetter, Compass Project Director, will highlight work with Generation Next and STEM stakeholders to measure and address opportunity gaps along the cradle-to-career continuum. Then, Meredith Crosby, Director, Strategic Initiatives, 3Mgives, will share her insights on how corporations can partner with academic, nonprofit, and government institutions to promote STEM education, using 3M initiatives as examples. 
 
Zooming in on access: Transportation to jobs and services
Minnesota Transportation Commissioner Charlie Zelle and Craig Helmstetter, co-conveners of a Compass Transportation Advisory Group, 
will unveil a new set of key measures and share what they tell us about how well Minnesota is doing in providing safe, reliable, and affordable transportation.

Zooming in on geography: Local data supports local action

Craig Helmstetter will highlight some findings uncovered by new and updated profiles, and Sarah Hernandez, Program Officer, McKnight Foundation, will explain how groups are using local-level data to identify changing needs and get resources to address them.
