Discover Wines from Down Under
The British began their colonization of Australia in the 1780's with a penal colony. Along the way, the First Fleet stopped at the Cape of Good Hope and took on supplies which included vine cuttings. While these first vines failed, little would stand in the way of the Brits to have wine in this distant land.
From the beginning with stickies, to the 1951 first vintage of Penfolds Grange, to the 1970's when dry table wines became the fashion and majority produced, Australia has become the world's fourth largest exporter of wine.

At the end of this class you will be able to:
- Describe the Australian system of Geographic Indications
- Discuss the history of Australian wine
- Discern differences in varietal wines
- Select Australian wines for enjoyment with and without food
We will taste at least 6 wines in this class.
