Dear Parents,
By participating in a youth drama class, your child may experience teamwork, body and mind awareness, communication skills, and a thrill of performing on stage, which can trigger confidence, empathy, giggles, spontaneous creativity, and extreme fun. Common side effects of youth drama enrichment programming can cause what is commonly known as "the bug" (as in, "she got the bug"). Please be prepared.

What is theatre? Students explore the art of telling stories through live acting.
Movement and Space. Students explore pantomime and movement to help tell a story.
Character Development. Students explore what makes characters unique and how to create compelling characters onstage.
Listening and Reacting. Students learn to understand how being present, listening and reacting are an important part of being an actor.

We couldn't be more proud and excited to launch our second annual, Spring into Summer (SIS) session. This special session always introduces something fresh and new to compliment our popular musical theatre program. This Spring into Summer kids can participate in We Devise (collaborative theatre), Stage Directing for Girls, The Body Talks / Physical Theatre (a favorite!) and more!

WHAT THESE CLASSES ARE ALL ABOUT:
We Devise ~ Theatre created from the inside out.Devising theatre is all encompassing for a wide variety of skills and ability levels. Participants start with a topic or an idea instead of a script -- there is room for flexibility and imagination! Students who are strong in visual mediums can participate -- writers, dancers, actors, singers -- can all enjoy the process of discovery through devising theatre! This is a performance-based project. Students may incorporate music and singing!
Tuition: $145
The Body Talks (Physical Theatre) ~ One of our most popular classes involves participants in movement, exercises and games, which help to gain skills in listening to the body's natural instincts. Participants will explore physical theatre and create new work from inspiration brought from physical exercises from movement theories: Growtoski, Laqoc, Butuh, Somatic Movement, Dance, View points and Laban. A fun, active and expressive class in physical theatre!

Stage Directing for Girls ~ A NEW class taught by Kytriena Payseno empowers girls to take the lead in storytelling on stage! Participants will gain skills in working with actors and a team as a director, staging, planning, and more. For all levels.
Tuition: $145
On-Camera Acting/Auditions ~ Students gain skills and knowledge in their mastery of on-camera performance. Students will delve into on-camera presence, relaxation techniques, with an opportunity to break habits that hinder an "authentic" audition. Students have will an opportunity to observe their work in REAL TIME working with a camera and monitor provided for the course. Mock audition created for class finale.
