APRIL 29, 2018 - MAY 2, 2018

Dear Friends:

The Georgia Association of Community Service Boards (GACSB) is pleased to announce that planning is currently underway for its 21st Annual Spring Fling.

This retreat brings together some of our strongest allies in RECOVERY, celebrating those living with a mental illness, intellectual/developmental disability, or substance use disorder; while also focusing on the life of recovery they live or are continuing to seek.

This is an exciting and informative program which will provide both individuals and groups the opportunity to hear speakers that motivate, educate, and empower! The curriculum also includes topic specific breakout (MH/AD & IDD) sessions to further educate on living well.

The dates for this educational event are April 29, 2018 through May 2, 2018. We are proud to announce this will be our first time hosting the event at Epworth by the Sea!

Event registration begins now, so kindly see below for scholarship and additional event details!

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Recovery Message/Social Media SCHOLARSHIP

Ends: APRIL 23, 2018 AT 8:00 A.M.

Calling All Spring Flingers! We want you to share with the world just how important INDEPENDENCE, GROWTH, & RECOVERY are to YOU! By posting a creative, brief video on our Facebook Page (Georgia Association of Community Service Boards), sharing your personal story of independence, growth, and recovery and how your CSB has influenced and supported your JOURNEY, you will automatically be entered into the drawing for a scholarship. Let your Creativity Shine through!

Make sure you include your name and your Community Service Board name (not only the program name) within the video!

Please note once the video has been posted to the GACSB Facebook your video upload will be sent to the page administrator for approval to ensure that there are no technical difficulties before your post is made public.

Should you need assistance with posting on Facebook or not see your video within one business day, please contact John Powell at (912) 704-6290.

  • Please note this event is only open to CSB consumers, staff/board member(s), and GACSB invited speakers/guests.
  • Consumer must be 18 years of age or older to attend.
  • At least 1 (one) staff member from the individual's CSB must be registered and remain on-site at all times. Just dropping-off participants is not acceptable.

Once again we would like door prizes to be a part of the event and are asking for CSB Donations. Please contact Lyly Trinh at (912) 704-1729 / ltrinh@shpllc.com if you would like to provide door prizes. This portion is always a big hit, and contributing CSBs will be acknowledged at the Spring Fling.

  1. Please remember that you can utilize the Family Supports dollars to pay for registration for your IDD consumers that are not on Waivers. In fact this is a GREAT way to utilize Family Support, so please get with your Family Support Coordinators to access these funds to pay for Spring Fling.
  2. For the Waiver Supplemental Services (WSS) the main categories of approval are Dental, Vision and General Medical,  but there is an "Other" category so members can try to access that for Spring Fling.  Highland Rivers Health and Pineland are the 2 fiscal agents for these WSS funds on behalf of DBHDD, and they urge you try and access these funds for Spring Fling for your waiver individuals. Remember WSS has to go through Support Coordination.  Also, any MH consumers that are living with a co-occurring diagnosis and have documented intellectual/ developmental disabilities can qualify for Family Support funding for Spring Fling.
  3. For IDD individuals who have Respite in their ISP, those funds can be utilized for Spring Fling registration.

*Members are recommended to "Exchange or Switch-Out" participants who have been registered and later have a conflict. Exchanges/Switched-Out individuals should be of the same gender: male with another male, female with another female.

*Should there still be a need for a cancellation on or prior to April 6, 2018 please be advised a $100 cancellation charge will be charged (per individual) to the agency.

*A Spring Fling Pre-Event (Staff) Call will be scheduled in early April for new and returning CSB staff so they have a better understanding of what to expect once on-site.

*There will be off-site events on Monday and Tuesday evenings, the CSB will be responsible for providing transportation for their participants.

*SESSIONS TIME OUT so once you've started the application be sure to complete the full registration page all at once; not leaving any idle time.*
