Women With Heart 2019 

Please join the St. Landry-Evangeline United Way Women United for the annual Women With Heart Luncheon and Power of the Purse Auction on Friday, February 15, 2019 and hear dynamic and inspirational Keynote  Speaker Karen Roy, Ms. Wheelchair America 2019, participate in the famous Power of the Purse Auction, and pay tribute to the 2019 Woman With Heart from St. Landry Parish and Woman With Heart from Evangeline Parish.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER FOR 2019 KAREN ROY

Karen Roy of Baton Rouge, Louisiana is passionate about her platform, "Stand for Life".  Karen sustained a T10 complete spinal cord injury in 1987, as the result of a gunshot wound to the back.  She was a victim of an armed robbery in a parking lot during her sophomore year at LSU.  Despite this tragic event, she never let it slow her down for a minute!

As Ms. Wheelchair America, Karen will advocate for the health and wellness of people with disabilities, "standing up" for the rights of the disabled to have access to the complex rehabilitation they need and deserve. Using her own experience, she wants to educate and advocate about the medical and psychological benefits of standing devices, functional electrical stimulation and any technology created to keep people healthy and active.
